Eliane Busstra

Eliane’s pilates journey began at Studio Anna Mora when she was 14 years old and needed to recover from an accident. She fell in love with the practice. Pilates gave her back control over her own body and taught her to be more in contact with herself. After 8 years of following her own practice, she decided to study the Polestar Pilates Mat Education in 2022. Eliane always had a big passion towards helping people, and with teaching pilates she’s found a first step to do so. 

Breath is emphasized in her classes. We breathe all day, mostly unconsciously. By creating a conscious connection to our breath, we learn to use it functionally. By using the conscious breath in combination with the exercises, it can help us to find balance and structure within ourselves.

“When I was younger I did not like sports and I hated gym class. Only when I started pilates, I learned about the joy of moving. Since then, other sports have become more enjoyable for me, because I now understand my own body and know my own power.”

As a teacher, Eliane believes gentle guidance is central. It’s important that her students feel comfortable, not only to listen to her instructions, but also to their own body. Every person is different, therefore there’s always room for a tailored approach. With Pilates we are creating a deeper consciousness towards our movement and body, and there’s power in that.
