Oana, originally from Romania has been teaching Pilates since 2018. Her passion for movement and human anatomy led her to a career which combines Pilates and Physiotherapy. She studied at the Physiotherapy School in Romania where she received her Master’s Degree in Physiotherapy for sport traumatology. During Oana’s student years she started to take Pilates classes and I fell in love with the concept.
“Never stop doing what you love. For me, it’s Pilates.”
After finishing her studies she began working as a Pilates instructor and physiotherapist for a gym in her hometown. With all her experience & acquired knowledge she decided to take a leap and move in The Netherlands to start a fresh chapter after 29 years in Romania. Oana is excited to continue her journey right here in Amsterdam by helping her client’s to find joy in body movement.
What are the benefits of Pilates for beginners?
When you start doing Pilates, you become aware of your body. The way you move, the way you breathe, where you have tensions. You learn in the first two-three sessions how to relax and breathe. Later on, you learn how to move.
How do you keep your clients motivated?
By showing them the progress they are making. I always add a little bit more difficulty to each class, so the clients can see that they can do exercises that might have been impossible three sessions ago.
What sets you apart as a Pilates teacher?
I would say it is my ability to read the room and adapt my class to it. I can see micro expressions that reveal what a person is feeling and thinking. Also, I am a perfectionist when it comes to correct posture, so I tend to correct every little detail in all exercises. I am open to clients, I understand them and I always have a smile for them.
