Anna, of Mexican origin, is a ‘born’ dancer. She was educated as a classical ballerina and danced professionally at “Het National Ballet” and “Compania nacional de Danza de Mexico” before settling down permanently in Amsterdam.
“Breath is movement. And movement is life.”
Her different backgrounds (including Polestar Pilates and GYROKINESIS) come together in the motto ‘The Joy of Moving.’ On that basis, she has been training her students for over 20 years. According to Anna, customised training is the key to finding optimal balance and health, and that has been a priority in building the studio.
Anna has gathered a team that enhances both her values and vision. This leads to a mix of different specialities that work together to always give the students the most refined movement experience.
What types of equipment do you use in your Pilates classes?
The type of equipment I use is always connected with the level of the student. My ultimate goal is to share the endless and playful possibilities within the complete Comprehensive Pilates repertoire. This includes, the Reformer, Tower, Barrel & Chair.
How often should I practice Pilates to see results?
Joseph Pilates wouldn’t take any students who could not commit to training a minimum of 4 times per week. Of course, I don’t expect that of my students today. Doing Pilates 2-3 times per week, is the best way to feel and sustain your growth. I recommend adding variety to your training schedule, as studies have shown that a more comprehensive fitness program that includes aerobic activities, such as walking, biking and swimming, provides even more health benefits.
What is your favorite part about teaching?
I love when people recognise and understand the full power of their bodies. They get out of their heads and find the limitless potential of their bodies. That’s when they truly find the JOY of movement.
